Personally, this album is of a genre that I personally don't like too much, so it works quite well in that genre, but I can't bring it to 4, because I think that the others are just better. There are a few songs where it works very well, like Do You Know What I'm Seeing, Nine in the Afternoon, That Green Gentlemen, and Northern Downpour, but when listening to other songs, I'm just taken out of the song at times. I think that the writing doesn't work as well as it should, in this album. but it has quite a few major flaws in it. Worst Songs- Dancing's Not A Crime, Hey Look Ma I Made It The only reason it's last place is because the other albums are just impossibly great.īest Songs- Dying in LA, King of the Clouds The takes are fantastic, even when stripped of autotune. I think that this album was very well produced, and sung. Those songs use a different timbre, and Dying in LA seems like it's completely separate from the album, joining Impossible Year, The End of All Things, and Always in that group, and imo, it's the best out of those 4. I do think that broadway influences really benefit this album, but the best songs from this album are the least "pop" to me, which are Dying in LA and King of the Clouds. Honestly, this is a great album, and I'm glad that it's what has really blown Panic! up in recent years, but I think that the genre isn't for me. If there are no songs in the worst songs category, that means that no song goes below that level, or I couldn't justify any song going under that category. Worst Songs aren't bad songs, but are the songs that aren't to the quality that others in the album are. 5 and 6 are tied, and 3 and 4 are tied, so I guess there's only 4 tiers.īest Songs are songs that work much better than other songs, when it comes to the elements, as well as how it works the lyrics and production into making it sound cohesive. The almost two-hour set, which opened with “Don’t Threaten Me With A Good Time” and closed near 11 PM with “Victorious,” was a masterpiece of arena rock. This is really just my opinions on each album, as well as noting any great or bad songs from each. But Urie’s personality, which comes across in videos and in the social media posts he used so expertly setting up this album, was the biggest thing.Īll of that resulted in the triumph that was the Forum show, where Panic headlined and sold out the same venue that Led Zeppelin, the Doors and Queen, a band he covers and admires so deeply, have graced the stage. How does a band reach the top a decade in to their career? There are a lot of factors – the combination of the right timing and the hard work being put into that moment being the biggest. To top it all off, it was nominated for Best Rock Album at this year’s Grammys. However, Death Of A Bachelor was a surprise smash, selling 190,000 copies in its first week and bringing the band their first No 1 album ever. But nothing in that track record made anyone think Urie, now the sole remaining and only full-time member of the original outfit, would finally achieve his biggest commercial breakthrough on the band’s fifth album.
